Sweet Christmas, this issue really has it all and is everything fans of monsters beating the life out of one another want and need! Brian really cranks things up as King Gidorah and Rodan join the fight, and the epic moments hit at every turn. Seeing Godzilla, a giant Superman, and Kong team up alongside Green Lantern is a top moment for us geeks this year, as they are battling Gidorah, which is something I cannot believe we even get to see. What Brian does well is that he is able to deliver on the action and still bring in a lot of suspense in terms of the overall story. The Justice League discovers Waller is dead and Shaw has taken over, which puts them up against time. An underrated moment in this issue, at the same time, is Harley and Batman’s dynamic. She attacks him, asking for help because that’s how she thought she had to do it, which is such a funny moment in this heart-pounding issue.

This issue may be the most visually stunning of the entire series yet from Christian and Luis. It is full of epic splash pages and monstrous panels as they capture the tenacity of Gidorah, especially. The scales and the fiery electricity Gidorah spews shine violently from the pages in this book. Even more so, they capture just how mean and badass Kong looks with his scars and facial expressions. The duo does an incredible job visualizing these monsters and their emotions and overall expressions during the battle.

It may be Thanksgiving, but it feels like an early Christmas present as this issue brings the heat. It is a violent and action-packed issue where you can sense just how angry these creatures are and how heavy the blows hit. It’s visually stunning as this story continues to get better and better!
