The Story for Return for Sleepy Hollow #1

We kick off with a death that is clearly supernatural to the reader. While, the local constable wants to chalk it up to a bad fall, the undertaker sees that is not the case. Katrina, the undertaker, and former lover of Ichabod Crane, knows all to well when a death is not natural. Someone sends for Ichabod and before she knows it Katrina is forced to face her past. Which is more complicated than Ichabod knows. She’s also now faced with trying to solve supernatural murders when the men around her are certain they’re all anything but.

The Art

The legend of Sleepy Hollow is a dark and fun mystery. To compliment the story, you need art that perfectly shows that. This art nailed it. Every scene creates a beautiful, yet creepy, feel. Complete with so many details on both our characters and the background. The art mastered the somberness of this story, while sucking you in the whole time.

Overall Grade: 9/10

Whether you’re familiar with the Disney version, the Tim Burton version (which is the version that inspired this story), or the various other Sleepy Hollow adaptations, you won’t be confused in the least bit. While Return to Sleepy Hollow takes place 15 years later, this comic does a beautiful and concise job of catching everyone up to move the current story forward.

All in all, this comic set the tone for a creepy new mystery featuring the infamous Ichabod Crane. I can’t wait to see where this all goes. It made me want to go rewatch the Tim Burton version of the original story, and no better time than just days before All Hallows’ Eve. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
