Catch up with the X-Men: Age of Revelation event with Radioactive Spider-Man #1!

The Story

In the great divide between Revelation’s territories and mutantkind, there’s a gray area in the Mississippi River that’s been taken over by a new team of mutants. This team consists of Ms. Marvel, Melee, Rift and Bronze, and they are working outside of the laws to help extract a mutant that could be a very valuable asset. However, while they’re working hard to have success in their missions, tensions are rising and rising between the team. It can’t be easy to find a new normal in this new world, but it also can’t be easy putting yourself at risk with every mission with no end in site.

Eve L. Ewing brings the characters she built from the ground up in Exceptional X-Men, and showcasing how they handle the new future under Revelation. Seeing Melee and Bronze work side by side along with Rift and Ms. Marvel was a match up I never saw coming, and I’m so glad I did. If there’s anyone that can make this team work, it’s Eve Ewing. With a great amount of action, an excellent espionage vibe throughout the comic, and a very interesting cliffhanger we’re left on, I’m very excited to see where this team goes in the X-Men: Age of Revelation event.

The Art

Francesco Mortarino is the artist of Expatriate X-Men #1 and really brings the heat to the comic. The comic is dripping with mystery and excitement, and Mortarino nails that feeling throughout the comic with the art. There’s so many great looks at the powersets of the team, as well as action scenes that make you feel like you’re in the middle of the war yourself.

Along with Mortarino, Raúl Angulo serves as the colorist of Expatriate X-Men #1, and really brings the depth to the art. With his mixture of muted and vibrant colors, Angulo makes every page a piece of art. You won’t want to change the page while simultaneously wanting to see the artwork on the next. All in all, the artists knocked it out of the park.

Final Thoughts

Expatriate X-Men #1 is full of excitement, mystery, and a compelling look at the new team’s perspective of the Age of Revelation.
