The Story:
Somehow and someway, Benjamin Percy delivers his most terrifying crossover between the Marvel Universe and the Yautja yet. He paints such a bleak story as Hulk’s arrival had me excited and triumphant as he tore through the Yautja with ease, only to be killed himself by Kraven. It was the exact type of death in a story that truly makes us feel as though all hope is lost.
From there the Yautja launch drones upon the infrastructure and we even see the Xavier Mansion in flames. There is a callback to Wolverine’s encounter with the Predator even which ties these individual stories together beautifully. This is issue is perfectly bleak and left me speechless as I truly have no idea how Ben plans to turn the tide in future issues!
The Art and Letters:
Frank and Daniel fill these pages full of incredible and gasp-inducing splash pages and panels. The way they visualize Hulk being drained of his powers was so detailed and broken up in three cuts, bleeding as one, it hammered home the levity of the situation. When we think we can catch our breath, the duo, along with Clayton, detail the scene of Professor Xavier in flames being thrown out of the mansion all too well.
It was a tough scene to witness as the horror on Wolverine’s face made it that much more difficult. Perhaps, the most terrifying work of art in this run to date is the King of the Yautja removing his helmet with every small detail and slimy dread across his face, kicking the reader while they are down.
Overall Grade: 10/10
Predator Kills the Marvel Universe #3 will leave you truly hopeless as the Yautja have planned the perfect assault led by Kraven, expertly taking down our beloved heroes one by one. This issue has been a masterpiece with Ben, Frank, Daniel, and Clayton bringing this horror to life.
