Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I’m going to be reviewing the 6th issue of the main Star Wars comic from Marvel Comics!

Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Rynn Zenat & Beilert Valance have found themselves face to face on the planet Loradil with none other than a large force of Battle Droids from the Clone Wars! All the meanwhile the New Republic is inching closer and closer to war with the Fenril Consortium! So is everything going to work out? Let’s jump into it!
Star Wars #6 by Alex Segura (Writer), Phil Noto (Artist) & VC’s Clayton Cowles (Letterer) is a fantastic issue that is sure to delight fans of The Clone Wars, and is action packed from start to finish!
The Story
Alex Segura’s story in this issue is straight forward and to the point, and it’s great! He treats us to a battle between our heroes & the Battle Droids that is extremely reminiscent of the 3D animated Clone Wars series! I really enjoyed this part of the issue, as The Clone Wars is one of my top 5 favorite television shows of all time.
READ LAST ISSUE’S REVIEW!
Simultaneously, there’s a little bit of progression in the Princess Leia/New Republic storyline. It’s a been a slow burn the last couple of issues, and its taken a back seat to the Luke/Han/Rynn/Valance one.
I’m extremely interested to see where Leia’s story goes because it’s starting to show a side we don’t see that often from her! Obviously we know how this is going to end up, but we don’t know the exact steps that are going to happen that will lead to that end.
The Artwork
Phil Noto is truly one of the best artists in all of Marvel right now, and he is doing some of his best work in this series. The entire action sequence on Loradil between the Separatist forces and our heroes was incredibly drawn. It was so nostalgic seeing the clone trooper armor, the various battle droids, and the separatist vehicles in the panels again. Every panel even had me looking in the background with a little more attention than normal, just to see what else Phil might’ve snuck in the panels.
Overall Grade: 8.5/10
FINAL POINT: There isn’t a whole lot that goes on in this issue story wise, but that is made up for with a spectacular battle with some strong nostalgia for The Clone Wars. Phil Noto steps up in a big way, with some of the best artwork you will see in a Star Wars comic on the comic book stands right now. This series is an absolute, must read for every Star Wars fan!
