Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I’m going to be reviewing the 4th issue of Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion from Marvel Comics!
Miles Morales continues his journey on Earth 6160 searching for his sister Billie who’s in the clutches of the Maker’s council. But just what happens when Miles runs into some of the most deadly forces The Maker has? It’s the penultimate issue, so let’s jump into it!
Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #4 by Deniz Camp & Cody Ziglar (Writers), Jonas Scharf (Artist), Erick Arciniega (Color Artist), VC’s Corey Petit (Letterer) is a tense build up from start to finish that is sure to leave fans wanting more.
The Story
This issue isn’t the most action packed one of the series, but it’s still very impactful. I really enjoyed the sequences with Miles & Maystorm. So much of Miles’ life has been chaotic and going at a breakneck speed. So to have a moment where he can relax (kind of) was a nice change of pace.
But this issue is all about buildup, and things start to come to a head in this issue. I like the way Deniz & Cody are setting things up. Everything seems to be pointing to an explosive conclusion of this series. Of course we do know that the Maker is coming back, and it’s sure to bring in the other heroes of this universe into that battle. It’s sure to be an amazing story.
The Artwork
Jonas Scharf & Erick Arcinigea both do a fantastic job with the artwork in this issue. They have such a unique style and look for this issue, that it really stands out from the rest of the Ultimate’s universe. The action sequences are incredibly detailed, and the backgrounds are just spectacular to look at. With Jonas & Erick at the helm for artwork, you can’t go wrong with anything they’re a part of.
FINAL POINT: All signs are pointing to an explosive conclusion, and this is a series you do not want to miss! The story from Deniz & Cody has been incredible, and the artwork from Jonas & Erick is nothing short of amazing. You really shouldn’t skip out on this series!
