Edge of the Venomverse #1 is a great collection of stories that are surrounding Carnage and Venom. Each story has a unique aspect, but the main idea is that Venom and Carnage are there to cause chaos. Each “earth” has a variety of people that Venom and Carnage get to.
A couple of examples are a little boy and a little girl. At one point, they take over an actual animal. Venom and Carnage also don’t care what is “right or wrong” it just sticks onto someone, and that’s it. I do like that Venom and Carnage are running through each earth, and causing chaos.
One thing that I think is missing, is that there is no background in terms of Venom and Carnage. There is nothing to explain how they keep attacking earths, and getting ahold of people on each earth.
In terms of the story, it is solid. It starts off strong, with Venom and Carnage doing what they do best. As far as the art, it is beautifully graphic and realistic to the story. Each panel has the reader on the edge of their seat. It also keeps things open for the next issue, where maybe Venom and Carnage might have an issue controlling someone. That would be interesting, because that means that they both can possibly be beat.
Overall Grade: 7/10
This is a step in the right direction. I want to know more about where Venom and Carnage end at. I’m hoping that across each issue, there is a different situation going on. One thing that I wish they would do, is shorten the stories even more. At times, I did get lost with the point of some of the stories within the first issue.
