Published:

Desperate times call for desperate measures as the Justice League is in a fight they cannot win, with help not coming fast enough. Superman must do the unthinkable, even if it means compromising his intellect, if the team hopes to survive Godzilla and what is waiting on the horizon for our heroes (DC).

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

Brian somehow continues to find a way to keep growing bigger and bigger with every issue this story pumps out. Just when I think he has pulled out all of the stops, he manages to find yet another trick and surprise from within his sleeves.

When it comes to titanic fights, Brian knows how to deliver on the moments that fans want to see and yet not even I was ready for Superman to grow and find myself with a gigantic sized Kryptonian against an angry Godzilla.

Another aspect that stands out in how this story is unfolding is the amount of mythos that Brian leans into. This culminates with an epic cliff-hanger, as there are more creatures on their way for a league that has its hands full as is.

The Art and Letters:

With every punch landed, Christian and Luis ensure that we feel the power and magnitude. There is a moment when Superman and Godzilla are facing off that the sun in the background is somehow drawn and colored as though I was looking at the sun in real life. I am in awe at that ability and level of detailing. The duo delivers on the epic moments, such as Superman and Godzilla, both with their powerful beams. It’s these moments that bring out the kid in me most.

Like I mentioned, when it comes to a story of this size, it is all about the spots, much like in a wrestling match. The art team is delivering on these big moment spots and somehow finding a way to continuously create bigger and bigger ones.

Final Thoughts:

Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong 2 #4 continues to create bigger and bigger moments and spots that deliver in heavy-hitting ways. You feel every punch and every moment in this issue as the art team pulls out the tops and Brian gives us enough that will keep us salivating for more.
