Star Wars: Doctor Aphra: Chaos Agent #3 – Double Switched

Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! And this week I’m going to be reviewing the 3rd issue of Star Wars: Doctor Aphra: Chaos Agent from Marvel Comics!

Doctor Aphra is joined in this issue by everyone’s favorite smuggler, Han Solo, on a mission to recover something from Han’s past! But will the smuggler get out of being smuggled? Let’s jump into it!

Star Wars: Doctor Aphra: Chaos Agent #3 by Cherish Chen (Writer), Gabriel Guzman (Artist), Mike Atiyeh (Color Artist), VC’s Joe Caramanga (Letterer) is a great issue that’s fun to read from start to finish!

The Story

Cherish Chen pens an incredible story that is just so much fun to read. Aphra is tasked with recovering the Totem of Marthxi, an item of incredible value to Campi Tribe. The good news, it’s current owner Sabi Sabo Acidy is willing to return the item. And the bad news? According to Aphra Acidy has a notorious reputation for killing his own family members & enemies. Han comes into this because of his own history with the object, and how he gave said object to Acidy in his younger days and now he feels he has to right a wrong.

I loved the entire sequence that took place on Felucia at the headquarters of Sabi Sabo Acidy. It felt equal parts Ocean’s Eleven, and equal parts Star Wars. It kept me very intrigued to see how it played out right up to the very end. On top of that it’s just such a fun read.

The Artwork

Gabriel Guzman & Mike Atiyeh both do an awesome job with the art in this issue. Every panel is so crisp & detailed that everything pops off the page so much. I particularly liked the color in this issue, as it was so vivid and varied.

FINAL POINT: A great story together with spectacular artwork make a memorable issue that is sure to please fans. This series is such a fun read with each issue, and really deserves to be added to your pull list if it isn’t on it already!

Overall Grade: 8.5/10
