The Story:
This story is unhinged in all of the best ways imaginable. This is everything that comic books should be about and can be about. The villains in the bar are concerned with insurance and how their only safe space has been destroyed, which is hilarious and then this issue is full to the brim of clever quips between heroes and villains and in between.
Seeing Johnny Storm having a moment to shine is always a treat to see, as I feel as though he doesn’t often get his moment when paired with Reed’s genius. Despite the epic and hilarious moments, we see glimpses of Wakanda and breadcrumbs leading towards something even more epic down the road.
The Art and Letters:
Just like the story is full of amazing quips and moments, the art team is doing insane work in crafting a gorgeous issue. Just about every page can be a poster on its own, whether we see Thor riding Fin Fang Foom or any of the shots the heroes take against Godzilla. Jesus is using an array of colors making this issue stand out panel to panel.
The art trio pays attention to the details, such as Spider-Man and Daredevil’s ripped suits and the amount of damage done to New York. The way every hero and villain gets a moment to shine is met with love and care from the art team, making this issue incredible. A shoutout to Mark Brooks as well who creates an incredibly detailed and eye catching cover making this a cannot miss!
Final Thoughts:
Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #2 is everything that comics should be and everything you want from a collision of Marvel characters and the King of the Monsters. It is full of epic action sequences and hilarious character interactions that will have you glued to the pages.
Overall Grade: 10/10 Atomic Breaths!
