We all know the legend of Krypton and how its planet once shone brightly, only to fall in the end; however, as Lex Luthor rampages across the small Kansas town, a league is forming. This new take on classic heroes takes us to the fields of Kansas and beyond as something familiar and dark lurks in far-away spaces of the world.

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, a League For Justice #2 by Andy Diggle, Leandro Fernandez, Matt Hollingsworth, and Simon Bowland.
*SPOILER WARNING*
Story Time:
Andy dives into the longstanding lore between Kryptonians and Martians in this issue and takes us even further inside of the mind of Lex Luthor. Manhunter has his time to shine as he pieces together the story by narratively weaving the history of Krypton together for the League and readers.
We knew that Krypton fell but, Andy takes it a step further in this issue cleverly showcasing how they were conquerors of space.
Assembling a team together is never a smooth and easy task to but Andy effortlessly brings this crew together in an organic manner. The issue wraps up surprisingly, leaving us on the edge of our seats at what is to come. I could spend forever in this Western world Andy is crafting.
Artwork:
Leandro and Matt play in a vast playground of colors and details. Martian Manhunter is drawn and detailed in such a frightening manner that it helps add a snake-like voice to Bowland’s letters. The duo does an incredible job with how they bring light to this story that has been taking place in the middle of the night so far.
The way Kruptonite glows vibrantly as thought it were a nightlight, or how the fire casts shadows against the buildings culminating in a massive explosion, blinding us and turning night into day.
The art team is doing excellent work on the costume designs and the way they leave more to the imagination at the same time. Do not sleep on the artwork within this issue!
Final Thoughts:
Issue #2 adds a lot of lore to this take on the Justice League. The differences in personalities mesh together effortlessly, and the artwork brings much-appreciated detail to the action and panels. I need issue 3 instantly!
