It’s Gen Con, and Darrington Press has already made some huge announcements.
Darrington Press hosted their Daggerheart panel while at Gen Con, and a lot of news was announced. Starting off, a Kickstarter for the game was announced. This campaign will have character packs for each class in the game. Now, the nice thing with these is that GMs can get these, and each of their players can have their specific character class, without using their GMs card deck. This is going to launch on Kickstarter in September.
Also announced was a new campaign frame. This is going to be inspired by the recent Critical Role book that dropped, Tusk Love. If you have been wanting a more romantasy-inspired campaign, this will be perfect for you. The campaign frame’s description reads:
“Enemies and admirers alike are your rivals as you set out to take on this year’s matchmaking season in the shining empire of Lumisara, the City of Crowns.”
3 Actual Play Collaborations were also announced. First up is the team over at Legends Of Avantris with the announcement that they are doing a Daggerheart mini-series. We then learned that Dungeons & Daddies will be doing a Daggerheart one-shot. The final announcement was the team at Bonus Action announcing that they are doing a full campaign with Daggerheart as the campaign’s game system. We also learn that a second season of Critical Role’s Age Of Umbra will be happening.
Over on the Daggerheart website is a new Homebrew Kit. This offers a robust set of resources, as well as insights, so you can create such things as:
- Classes
- Ancestories
- Campaign Frames
We also learned about some new Daggerheart licensing partnerships. These partnerships include:
- An Art Of Daggerheart Book From Insight Editions
- Customizable Daggerheart Minis From Hero Forge
- New Daggerheart Dice Sets From Dispel Dice, Botch Dice, And Misty Mountain Gaming
We also learned that former Dungeons & Dragons designers Jeremy Crawford and Chris Perkins are working on new products for Daggerheart. Chris’s project will be a series of adventures that will span multiple campaign frames and will end up interconnecting into a larger narrative arc. Meanwhile, Jeremy’s project will be a full setting that will be diving into a hellishly terrifying genre.
The last announcement was that Keith Baker and Jenn Ellis from Twogether Studio are also working on a Daggerheart project. They are known for amazing projects, including:
What we do know about their project is that it will be a new world for Daggerheart, with thrilling world design and brilliant new player option designs.
All these announcements are exciting, and make me excited for Daggerheart’s future.
