Let’s Lay it All Out:
Jamal does it all, and so it is only fitting to discuss everything here. The story brings us to the conclusion of this set of events in epic fashion. The tie-ins from the start of the book pay off as it tells us the tale of what was going on the whole time, even if we did not see it. Zatanna when fully in her bag such as Jamal has her in this story is why she is my favorite. Jamal writes her bursting with confidence and upbeat as she shows up with Wonder Woman and others which is a fantastic sequence of events. Her heart despite the magic she does is the core of her character and Jamal puts it on display here.
When it comes to the artwork, I still cannot wrap my head around the intense sequences that Jamal can draw. The use of space and how the action spills out as though it is 3D continues to blow my mind. The background of colors is a deeper red, and yet, how he has drawn and colored everything at the forefront makes the background help the characters pop out rather than them sink into the panels.
Final thoughts:
Zatanna #6 wraps up this first arc in a burst of colorful magic and a blend of heart and perseverance. Jamal takes his talents to new levels, and the story matches the energy every step of the way.
Overall Grade: 10/10
