The Story and Writing

The timestream is broken and the dogs are on the loose! To be more specific, a corgi dressed as Robin, named Robin-Corgi, is on the loose. Trinity is on the hunt to find the beloved and very important dog who could break all of space and time if harmed. While chasing Robin-Corgi, Trinity runs into Jason Todd, AKA, Robin, who thinks she is a villain. Trinity makes it clear she isn’t a villain after she has a good laugh at Robin’s expense. Robin offers to help find the missing dog.

Tom King made Trinity: Daughters of Wonder Woman #2 a light-hearted teen drama with some darker moments, particularly with Trinity spilling to Robin the details of his death. While it was sad being reminded of Jason’s death, and that fact looming over the story, it was met with lightheartedness from Trinity, and some cockiness from Jason.

I thought the two were really entertaining together, especially with the obvious crush each one had one the other. It was very entertaining seeing the Girl Wonder meeting the Boy Wonder, and having them work together to find this possible earth-shattering corgi. Overall, I thought the comic was a lot of fun. I’m excited to see the story of Wonder Woman’s daughter continue!

The Art

There was some really great looks in Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman #2 all thanks to Belén Ortega and Alejandro Sánchez. I really enjoyed the look of inside the Batcave, with the lighting hitting the characters perfectly. Another occasion was when Robin and Trinity were driving through Gotham, and we were treated to a full page look at the scene.

Along with Ortega and Sánchez, Clayton Cowles handled the lettering of the comic and knocked it out of the park. With two different conversations happening simultaneously, Cowles made each one feel important and gave each sentence the power it needed to set the tone.

Final Thoughts

I thought Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman #2 was a lot of fun. Tom King is extremely talented, so it’s no surprise that he would make a comic that’s as lighthearted and easy of a read while having darker undertones like with Robin’s death. I look forward to checking out what’s next!

Overall Grade – 8.5/10
