Laura Kinney: WOLVERINE #8 – “Honor Bound”

Throughout this comic we’ve seen amazing team ups, hilarious moments, and a plethora of badass fights. However, last we saw the Wolverine she had just snapped back to reality after enjoying a lovely Christmas morning with her “family.” Of course snapping back to reality for a Wolverine never happens calmly.

The Story for Laura Kinney: WOLVERINE #8

When a Wolverine goes looking for trouble, they always find it. Laura finds more than just trouble, however. She finds some people from her past. With Krakoa gone, many mutants have nowhere to turn. A new safe space is quickly jeopardized, and the one thing Laura will never tolerate is allowing a mutant to suffer. Fortunately, her friends aren’t the only past she stumbles upon. Wolverine learns it’s always good to have friends in high up places.

The Art

I continue to absolutely love the art on every page of Laura Kinney: WOLVERINE. From the drawing to the colors, it’s incredibly beautiful while also being action packed. The gleam of the street lights during a fight somehow creates a stunning moment showcasing how hardcore Laura is. I truly cannot get enough of this art. Every single page is gorgeous.

Overall Grade: 8.5/10

I loved how this issue came full circle from the first. Many calls and nods to past issues were made. However, if this is your first time picking up this comic, you get caught up real quick. Laura’s main objective has been, and continues to be: protect mutants. This issue, however, showed a side we don’t too often see. We get a physically vulnerable Wolverine, and not in the brainwash way we’re used to. Nevertheless, she continues to fight like hell. As the issue wraps up she discovers an interesting surprise on her front door step. Which happens to come as she’s thinking about that “perfect” Christmas morning.

If you’ve been sleeping on Laura Kinney, now is not the time do that! If you love comics with Logan in them, you’ll love this run with Laura as the Wolverine. She is her father’s daughter, just a bit more friendly, and less self loathing. SNIKT!
