Well, unbeknownst to T’Challa, the world has been taken over by one Doctor Doom.

ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM

The Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men and everybody else that even remotely knew anything about Doctor Doom decided to put up a fight. If that wasn’t enough, while the Avengers were away executing a plan to stop Doom with the help Masters of Evil, the New Master of Evil infiltrated The Impossible city. And they took control of not just the city, but all of it’s assets.

FROM SOLICITATION:

“AVENGERS REUNITED! In the face of DOOM, the Avengers stood tall. Now with the IMPOSSIBLE CITY under siege, the rest of the team arrives to bring down the MASTER OF EVIL! But the MAD THINKER won’t go down easy as he unleashes a deadly new weapon!”

ALL SORTS OF MAD

This entire ordeal has been for one reason and one reason only, the Mad Thinker’s ego. The reason he assembled a new Masters of Evil was to prove he could do it better. The reason he wanted  to launch the Ashen Combine back to earth was to topple Doctor Doom’s image as ruler and protector of the world. Also, by damaging Doom in any sort of way, the Mad Thinker would outperform the Avengers as well. Since they have not been able to stop or even slow Doom’s ascension to power. In other words, if his plans came to fruition, the Mad Thinker would have outstage everyone while the world was watching.

TOOK ONE FOR THE TEAM

Unfortunately for the Mad Thinker, there were two more hurdles he needed to clear before completing his masterfully crafted scheme. Captain America and the Black Panther were standing in his way. While Sam and T’Challa were taking out the different members of the Masters of Evil, Mad Thinker was using his adaptable technology to arm himself with the powers and abilities of his teammates. Hence why he never went out his way to aid any of them previously.

TWO vs. FIVE, STILL

Then the Mad Thinker upgraded himself with the strength of Mr. Hyde, the psycho vision of Madcap, the weaponry of Dreadknight and the Midas Bullets from Exterminatrix. Additionally, the one thing that can’t be overseen, the intellect of Mad Thinker. As stated by T’Challa, the Mad Thinker’s intellect allows him to make an incredible amount of calculations of available variables. In layman’s terms, he can out think almost anyone. The last Avengers had an uphill battle to say the least

HOW ABOUT THE ART?

There’s so much action packed in the first half os this issue. There is all sorts of angles and tricks to depict an incredible fight between the characters. Unfortunetaly, the art in the second half of the comic book dwindles in quality. Although the story and the action slows down, the details on the characters pale in comparison to the first half of the issue.

OVERAL GRADE: 7.5/10

Avengers #28 by Jed MacKay, Andrea Boccardo, Federico Blee & Cory Petit, Marvel Comics

With everything going on in the One World Under Doom event, Jed MacKay managed to give other characters a moment to shine. Wheter it was the new Masters of Evil with the Mad Thinker. Or Captain America and Black Panther. Everyone had an incredible showcase of character and abilities. Also, the return of Black Panther is a big deal. The Avengers have their best tactician back. Finally they might turn the tide on Doctor Doom once and for all.
