The Story:

Kelly certainly takes this issue through a maze of her own, as I did not see where things were headed aside from an obvious confrontation. Diana is written more stern and determined than she has been in previous issues with the help of Becca’s letters. Diana has almost an air of arrogance to her in this issue which may come to bite her in the coming issues.

There were some bait and swerves, such as with our Minotaur on the cover. There are also some historical depths written into this issue, and I love it when new things are laid out and they dive into more lore.

The Art:

Much like the way she is written, there is a more determined look to Diana in this issue from Hayden and Jordie. Her eyes have a different look to them, lending to that feeling, and the maze leaves us with an unsettling feeling in our stomachs as the duo brings it to life. I continue to love Diana’s battle design and the magic she plays with. The red from her lasso and tattoos stand out amongst the darker tones in some of the panels in the book.

Final Thoughts:

Absolute Wonder Woman #9 leaves you with a feeling of unease as Diana’s path has seemed almost too easy to this point. The team continues to deliver an outstanding story, leaving us craving more.

Overall Grade: 10/10
