The newest D&D party are about to make their comics debut.

Jaleigh Johnson’s adventuring party is debuting in their first 4-issue comic book series from Dark Horse Comics. Entitled Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks, this new comic’s official description reads:
“In a time of fickle gods and feckless governors, the world yearns for heroes! What it gets are the Fallbacks—a party of daring, dubious, and dysfunctional adventurers who arrive in the city of Loudwater in search of gold and glory.
But an encounter with kobold thieves puts the Fallbacks in the crosshairs of a rival team of deeply annoying local heroes. Will the Fallbacks pull off a heist for the ages? Or will they sacrifice it all to put these “heroes” in their place?”
This story’s main characters include:
- Tess, The Sly Rogue Elf
- Anson, The Loyal Human Fighter
- Cazrin, The Inquisitive Human Wizard
- Lark, The Bombastic Tiefling Bard
- Baldric, The Devil-May-Care Dwarf Cleric
- Uggie, The Ever-Hungry Otyugh Companion
This comic has a fantastic all-star creative team, including:
- Writer: Greg Pak (Stranger Things, Lawful)
- Penciler: Wilton Santos (Break Out, Star Wars: Doctor Aphra)
- Inker: Edvan Alves
- Colorist: Raul Angulo (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers)
- Letterer: Nate Piekos (Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons: The Rise of Hellfire, Minor Threats)

Dungeons & Dragons’ Publishing Lead at Wizards Of The Coast, Paul Morrissey, mentioned this about the comic:
“Greg Pak brings the charm and chaos with his story, and the art team of Wilton Santos and Raul Angulo delivers vibrant, eye-popping art visuals that leap off the page.
The Fallbacks is a fast-paced, character-driven adventure full of heart, humor, and heroic mayhem—the kind of story that reminds you why you fell in love with Dungeons & Dragons in the first place.”
Greg Pak also had this to say about the comic:
“When I read the Jaleigh Johnson prose novel where the Fallbacks first appeared, my primary takeaway, which is also my highest praise, was that it felt like an actual D&D campaign I might play with my funniest, most subversive, and biggest-hearted friends.
We’re bringing that vibe to full-color glory on the comics page with incredible interior art by Wilton Santos, Edvan Alves, and Raul Angulo, sharp letters by Nate Piekos, and glorious covers by a slew of artists including Marguerite Sauvage. Can’t wait for y’all to join the campaign!”
Issue one will be available on October 15th, with covers from artists, including:
- Marguerite Sauvage (Cover A)
- Uzuri (Covers B & C)
- Stephen Segovia (Cover D)
- Dan Panosian (Cover E)
Julie Dillon will be supplying the back cover art for all of the issues, and that art will connect together to make a homage to J.C. Leyendecker. Now, if you want to read up on these characters before the comic releases, the newest Fallbacks novel, Dealing For Dragons, releases July 29th.
