*SPOILERS AHEAD*
The Story:
This issue feels like the calm before the big storm as we look out and see the dark looming clouds that lie in wait. The team is stopping off for a resupply run which in video game terms there is a save button meaning things are about to go buck wild. This issue still packs a punch though with Jeremy making sure we know Dagon’s full power as he eliminates the gods and has them zombified lying in wait.
This issue is serving as a warning and makes us fear for what has happened to the people of Atlantis as we still do not know their fate. There is a nice moment with Arthur enjoying a drink and is offering words that back our fears of what is to come. The story continues to keep me on the hook!
The Artwork:
Michael Shefler steps into this issue and makes his footprint known as there is a lot of detail in the water movements as the team battles against a horde of terrifying zombie gods. I enjoy how Michael makes these gods appear terrifying and how swift and clean the movements work within the panels and pages.
Rex continues to put on a master class in coloring adding depth and layers to the water as it is swirling around in battle. He is adding to the horror elements bringing decaying colors and tones to the faces of the enemies in this issue. The vibrancy and work in this run stand tall and continue to get better with each issue. John hasn’t left us as his cover with this issue is astounding and is a must grab for collectors.
Overall Grade: 10/10
