The Story:
Matt: Deniz and Cody fill up the panels with a ton of heart and humor in this issue. Peter being the most inexperienced one for a change and Miles being the “vet” was a fun touch as we launched into this new world. Spot continuously still being an almost innocent villain that gets dispatched by Miles too easily may never not be funny to me as well. This is my introduction into the Ultimate universe and the duo deliver on the hype as I can see what has people excited.
Josh: I had some high expectations, because Deniz Camp has been doing such a good job with The Ultimates and this one lived up to those expectations! It was chaotic, it was fun and it felt like the start of something major.
The Art and Letters:
Matt: Jonas and Edgar manage to fill the panels full of action that at no point get caught in a web-filled mess. The leap Miles does after Billie is full of energy and detail and the subtle change in his costume is done very well. Each Spider-Man has a uniqueness drawn into them which makes you feel how much fun the duo is having. Sara and Tamra had me interested based on their cover work alone giving off energetic vibes.
Josh: This issue lives up to the high expectations I have when it comes to The Ultimates line of comics. Seeing Miles cross over into this Universe was awesome to see. And seeing how subtly different he is from the other heroes is great.
