Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! And this week I’m going to be reviewing the 5th issue of Star Wars: The High Republic: Fear of the Jedi #5 from Marvel Comics!
The war between the Republic & the Nihil is reaching a boiling point! War is raging on all fronts, and perhaps things might be coming to a close? Let’s jump into it!

Star Wars: The High Republic: Fear of the Jedi #5 by Cavan Scott (Writer), Marika Cresta (Artist), Jim Campbell (Colorist), VC’s Ariana Maher (Letterer) & Phil Noto (Cover Art). If you like big battle sequences or war focused stories, then this is the issue for you! This issue is great!
The Story
The story in this issue is as chaotic as it’s been the last few issues, and that’s awesome! You really get a sense of just how chaotic things are the more you read in this issue. And it feels like it’s the later third of Return of the Jedi. And by that I mean it feels like things are building to a crescendo. Cavan is writing a real masterclass of a story in this series. If you’re skipping it for any reason, rectify that ASAP!
The Artwork
Marika Cresta & Jim Campbell are really at the top of their craft in this issue. They do a fantastic job conveying how chaotic things are and it looks spectacular. Especially when it comes to the space battles. Those panels really stand out among the rest of them for me.
FINAL POINT: This issue is a fun read if you’ve been keeping up with The High Republic, you’re going to want to read this. It’s a fast paced issue that picks up speed & doesn’t let up right to the end. Cavan Scott’s writing, along with artwork from Markia & Jim blend together for a story you truly shouldn’t miss!
Overall Grade: 9.0/10
