RoboWolf is an Action Movie Fans Dream Come True!
Last week we got a preview of Kung Fury 2. If you know what that is, you’re awesome. If you don’t…what are you doing with your life!? Seriously though, that type of parody or homage to 80’s and 90’s action movies are the first thing I thought of after reading RoboWolf! Action movie tropes, hilarious one-liners, and video game like story dynamics give this book all the right vibes!
Jake Smith takes us a wild ride through the neon city of Sunset Hills with a high-speed chase. RoboWolf and his crew are on the run after a huge bank robbery. Smith uses every action movie tool in the tool bag to make this a fun and exciting sequence!

RoboWolf and a Cast of Wild Characters!
An awesome cast of characters are introduced with special skills to help along the way. Not only are the sidekicks awesome, so are the antagonists! From Street thugs to mini bosses and beyond, they each are unique larger than life. Every panel and page holds something or someone new!
With all of the big personalities, mindless action, and crazy dialogue, there’s still something darker building in the background. Smith is commenting on a lot of heavy subject matter, most notably corporations and the control they have over our lives through advertising, consumption, and power over authority.
The Neon Violence of RoboWolf
The artwork is out of this world great! I absolutely love the bright neon color palette. It even has a been of grit and grime on it that gives this world a dangerous tone. The illustrations themselves are original and fresh. It feels like an old school indie comic and I love it. Smith pulls no punches with the violence. Panel layouts drive the action, and the lettering gives it a flair for the cinematic.
Overall Grade 10/10
This book is just plain fun with a deeper story structure underneath. RoboWolf is a hilarious character with a flair for the bad-ass. A cast of characters thrive without overshadowing one another. The artwork is everything I look for in a comic. The pace is like a freight train with action at every turn. You know what’s going to happen and yet you’re still surprised when it does. I can’t wait to see what comes next!
