THE MOON IS FOLLOWING US #9: The End is Near

The Moon is Following Us #9: Penny is within their grasp as an all-out battle has ensued in a final desperate attempt to save their daughter. Sam and Duncan show they are willing to do everything it takes to save Penny even if it comes at the cost of their own lives.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

The Story:

It is sad knowing that this is the set up to the finale and that this run is going to be ending because DWJ and Riley continue to find the line between pulling on our heart strings and making us emotionally attached to these characters and making us feel as though we are riding a rollercoaster all at once.

This issue is heart pounding and seeing Sam dig deep and battle putting everything on the line for Penny was so beautiful. They do a wonderful job of finally making us hate Tash as the reality of the situation reveals his true colors. This issue ends on a cliffhanger that will leave readers stunned as we prepare for the final issue.

The Art:

Riley and Mike continue to add to the rollercoaster, heart pounding, and intense action with their artwork. Watching a shark head taking bites out of bad guys has never looked so beautiful. They manage to bring beauty to our nightmare friends as everyone prepares for a last stand. This issue is bloody and colorful and it could not be done without these two being in perfect sync together.

Shawn hammers home emotional depth and anger through the letters that grace each panel. You can hear and feel anguish and desperation in every word on the pages in their own heavy manner.

Overall Grade: 10/10

The Moon is Following Us has been a perfect run and this issue remains no different. We have reached our breaking point and as things begin to wrap up the team shows they still have more up their sleeve to show us. I was not ready for how this issue ends and I don’t know that I am ready for this run to end!
