There’s A New Apex Predator

Lion-O breaks free from the snow after escaping through a portal. He finds himself in a snow-covered landscape with creatures he’d never seen before. To survive he needs to use all of his training and knowledge. But as the creatures keep coming it becomes harder and harder to stay alive.

One day Lion-O gets ambushed by Rockmen and Gargoyles, and it looks like this is it. That is until he is saved by a stranger. However, this stranger feels familiar, like he should know them. The mystery Thunderian turns his sights on Lion-O and they battle each other. The fight is stopped by an octopus monster, and it is then that the mystery man is revealed.

Survival of the Fittest

ThunderCats #15 steps up the drama and action involving Lion-O. Declan Shalvey does an incredible job of showing us the journey from captive to free in this wild and dangerous land. The turn and introduction of Apex to Lion-O ups the ante even more. The big reveal really brings you in, but the uncertain future is what will hook the readers for the long run.

The art in this issue is different from other issues in the series. Joe Mulvey does more of a nostalgic cartoon art for this issue, instead of the modern updated look that we’ve become accustomed to. This isn’t a bad thing, just a little different which took some getting used to.
