The Origins of Kid Juggernaut
Kid Juggernaut comes to print for the first time! This origin issue collects the digital issues 1-6 of Kid Juggernaut: Marvel Voices Infinity Comic. Justin Jin is the grandson of Cain Marko’s Juggernaut predecessor. He doesn’t know much about his family’s history as his father left at a young age to protect his family.
The Amazing Spider-Man #70 – He’s The SPIDER-NAUT!!
Now, his father has died and his belongings arrive with a mysterious red gem inside. Justin can’t help but touch it and is imbued with the powers of Cyttorak! With a new found size and strength, all the social problems of a teenager, and acolyte of Cyttorak hunting him down, Justin will have to make some tough choices under pressure!

Writing a New Juggernaut Story
Emily Kim builds us a worthy avatar for the powers of Cyttorak from the ground up. Justin is getting big and strong. He has strong sense of right and wrong. He cares about others. All of things would normally be huge red flags for Cyttorak, BUT the use of Justin’s anger over his father leaving his family was enough for the God to temp the young man into craving power. To make things even better, he sends his acolyte Malphegor to push him further and then temps him with a face he thinks he can trust!
Kim uses plot devices flawlessly and develops characters very well. The world building and lore crafting of the Cyttorak and the mantle of Juggernaut is a deep and fascinating. It’s a great way to pave this new path forward and build a strong foundation for this new version of a character that has been a part of Marvel’s history for a long time.
The Artwork of Kid Juggernaut
The artwork shifts throughout the story as two artists divided up the digital issues. There is a distinct difference between styles but it doesn’t effect the flow of the book. The action still moves well and character designs, new and old, bring a larger than life feeling to the story. The colors are rich and vibrant and really elevate the artwork. Scenes involving Cyttorak and the various Juggernauts are so engaging!
Overall Grade: 8/10
A surprisingly good introduction to a character that would maybe seem silly, at least to me. This issue stands out thanks to Kim’s wonderful character work and awesome presentation of the Juggernaut’s lore. The artwork finds some really good sweet spots, especially in flashbacks. Kid Juggernaut is a strong start to a new character in the Marvel universe.
