Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! And this week I’m going to be reviewing the 70th issue of The Amazing Spider-Man from Joe Kelly & Marvel!
This issue picks up where issue 69 left off! Peter is reborn and has been given a body similar to that of the Juggernaut! Now he has to step back into the fight and save the Earth….again (for like the 6th or 7th time in a day)! So let’s jump into it!

The Amazing Spider-Man #70 by Joe Kelly (Writer), Ed McGuinness (Penciler), Mark Famer & Cliff Rathburn (Inkers), Alex Sinclair & Marcio Menyz (Colorists), VC’s Joe Caramanga (Letterer), Ed McGuinness & Cliff Rathburn & Marcio Menyz (Cover Art) is a knockdown, drag out fight that has the feel of a classic Spider-Man fight.
There’s no mystery or subtly in this story! It’s an all out fight between Peter and Callix! Peter is back from the dead and got an upgrade to a Juggernaut like suit! Peter holds nothing back and he’s laying a smackdown of epic proportions. All the meanwhile you have Cyra trying to stop her father and save the Earth & Peter because she’s still having second thoughts after all this.
The story has a little bit of everything, from beatdowns to heartfelt speeches. It’s got all the makings of a fantastic issue. Everything from the last couple issues comes together in this issue, and man does it paint an epic picture!
The Artwork
Speaking of painting and epic pictures, the artwork from McGuinness, Farmer, Rathburn, Sinclair & Menyz is absolutely phenomenal this issue. They do an incredible job of conveying just how powerful Peter is in his Juggernaut suit and man is it awesome. If you couldn’t tell, my favorite part was the issue. It’s something I don’t think we’ve seen before and it was just fun to see. It was like playing your favorite video game and getting all the overpowered equipment at the end of the story and just destroying all the enemies.
FINAL POINT: The issue brings together everything we’ve been reading thus far to an epic, and extremely satisfying conclusion. It’s an issue that Marvel & diehard Spider-Man fans are going to love. And while it does have a happy ending, there’s still the whole matter of Doom being the Sorcerer Supreme to deal with. And it’s going to make for some interesting reading in the upcoming issues. You’re definitely going to want to pick this issue up!
Overall Grade: 8.5/10
