ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM, Marvel’s newest comic book event, debuted earlier this week, leaving readers stunned by the sheer magnificence of being ruled by Victor von Doom! This event will reshape the Marvel Universe for the foreseeable future, with the story of Doom’s reign unfolding across a nine-issue core series written by the acclaimed Ryan North and illustrated by superstar artist R.B. Silva. Doom’s rise to power will also echo throughout the Marvel line in various limited series and tie-in issues.

After a sold-out debut, a Second Printing of One World Under Doom #1 will be available in comic shops next month. Today, loyal followers can get an early look at the second issue, which features a pivotal showdown between Doom and his long-time foes—the Fantastic Four!

After claiming the title of Sorcerer Supreme in last summer’s Blood Hunt, Doctor Doom is set on using his newfound power to improve the world for all! In One World Under Doom #1, Doom successfully unites the Earth under his rule, and—much to the surprise of Marvel’s greatest heroes—the planet accepts its new Emperor! With Doom leading the world toward lasting peace and security, his reign promises to achieve what his adversaries have failed to do time and time again.

However, as previewed in One World Under Doom #2, there are still those daring enough to challenge him! In a reckless move they’ll soon regret, the Fantastic Four make their attack during one of Doom’s stirring speeches at the United Nations. Meanwhile, Doom shares his grand plans with the only person who commands his respect, Valeria Richards. Will she embrace his glorious vision, or fall prey to the jealousy that consumed her parents?

What does Ryan North have to say?

“I signed for three hours at Crossover Comics in Montreal on Wednesday to celebrate the launch, and it was busy non-stop the whole time,” North shared. “I met a ton of great people—and, happily, had my first review there too, from a reader who read the issue while waiting in line for it to be signed! Thankfully, he really liked it. It’s been fantastic to wake up in a snow-covered Montreal and see all the enthusiasm about the book. It’s a story that’s been in the works for years, so to finally have it out—and so well-received—is really gratifying.”

Here’s what critics have to say!

This is an event worth following for both its scope and its fresh thematic underpinnings.
