Venom #3 starts in a unique way, with Venom connecting with a boy named Dylan. Dylan seems to already have an established relationship with Venom. Dylan is constantly mad with the fact that Venom never shows up for him. In true Venom fashion, Venom is going around and causing havoc, while he is trying to rescue Dylan. Dylan obviously is mad at Venom, and tells Venom that he feels that he really lets Dylan get into trouble.
Meanwhile, this character named Madame Masque, shows up and she said she intends to fight Venom, but doesn’t want to fight Dylan. Clearly she has a black and white symbiote suit, which looks awesome. She has cool powers, and there is a webbing that she uses, and it really reminds me of Spider-Man web. Venom says that he is up for a fight against Madame, and he proceeds to make a vital decision. Either save some people that are webbed up because of Madame, or choose to fight her at that exact moment. The answer to that is not revealed in this specific issue.
What I really enjoyed about this third issue is deep diving into Venom and Dylan’s relationship. Dylan deserves a father figure, and he is not getting that from Venom. Venom seems to try and explain and make Dylan realize that he is the way he is. There is no changing that, but Venom cares about Dylan and that is the bottom line. I’m curious to see exactly how Madame Masque goes about fighting Venom, and seeing her ultimate plan. She’s got that incredible suit, which the colors are a nice touch to an overall compelling suit.
The art is beautiful as well, Marvel sets the standard of art. It is that classic comic book feel, and you can see it throughout the panels. I really like how they portray Venom, and that tongue comes out all the time when he is talking. I also like that the action sequences, you can really see the details of what is happening in the panel.
