You Need Love…and Murder

We pick right up where issue one left off with our killers being in the same bar at the same time. We find out that Mark (The Ladykiller) knows all about The Home Intruder, whose real name is Daniel Dodson. Dodson questions Mark about his wife and how he loves her, to which Mark tells him he should try his luck with Cece. Despite Dodson saying he’s awkward, the fact that Cece is interested in serial killers is a selling point.

The contest between the two men really ramps up and the body toll rises. With this comes a higher police presence and the ultimate stakes. Mark also left a note for Cece to bring to light the competition to the masses through the podcast. This makes Cece’s dad even more on edge and feel guilty for not catching the killers. Meanwhile, Cece and Dodson start to become close. But that isn’t the biggest mistake for Dodson or Mark for that matter.

It’s Only a Fender Bender

Issue one was great, but issue two really ups the ante in a big way. Kyle Starks is not only building a world where two killers are competing, he’s also making them human. This really separates this book from other similar books that have been done in the past. Besides the two killers, there is a great deal of build for the other characters in the story as well. The story weaving is masterful and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The art is very good in the issue as well. Patrick Piazzalunga makes you feel like you are in a real-life crime blotter. The art is simplistic in nature but has a ton of detail in the background. The earth tones used for colors by Marco Brakko brings a feeling of realism and bleakness as well. The layout of this issue is impeccable.
