CATCH UP WITH DEADPOOL #9 HERE!
The Family is Back
After Ellie and her dad, Wade, both died in the previous issue and came back from the dead, they are getting used to the changes that came from coming back. Ellie admits to her dad that she made a deal to bring them both back, but the trade was that it cut their healing factors in half. The only issue with their healing factors working only half as well is that it really makes their mercenary business more difficult. Wade, AKA Deadpool, is used to depending on his healing factor when he fights, so this will be an entirely different ballgame.
Luckily they have the best teacher in the business to help teach them; Taskmaster. Taskmaster shows them that in order to be able to fight while using a smaller healing factor, they have to work together. Wade will have to get used to leaning on his daughter for assistance, rather than running into a fight with no plan in action.
When dealing with all these new changes, they still have the issue of being completely broke. Their business is at a standstill and not bringing in any money. So, they scrape the bottom of the barrel for a job and they find the worst of the worst job.
The Story
Cody Ziglar does it again with another exciting installment of Deadpool! What I really enjoyed about this was seeing Ellie and Deadpool working off each other against the Russians. You can see there is a lot of trust there, and they work very well with each other. Each one has something different to bring to the team, and it shows how much of a powerhouse of a team they make.
We also got a good bit of vulnerability from Deadpool, as he knew how horrible the job would be. He didn’t ever want Ellie to see him in that light, but with them being desperate for a pay day, he doesn’t have a choice. With who the target is, I really have no idea what to expect from the next installment of Deadpool.
The Art
There were so many things to like about the artwork of Deadpool #10, but I think Ellie’s dream is definitely something to be discussed. With the dark and smokey background, the bright purple of Ellie and her mom, and her mom as a monster, the artists really nailed the horror tone.
Another thing I really enjoyed was the fight scenes throughout the comic. The artists did a fantastic job at making you feel right in the middle of the action.
Overall Grade: 9.3/10
