Marvel Comics’ popular Disney What If? Variant Covers continue into this year, following their reimaginings of iconic Avengers and X-Men covers. This time, Mickey & Friends are revisiting the roots of it all with reworked classic Fantastic Four covers. The Disney What If? Fantastic Four Homage Variant Covers will appear monthly on current Fantastic Four issues, kicking off this week with Fantastic Four #28. Fans can now get a look at four upcoming covers for issues #30-32.
This new batch reimagines two covers by the legendary Jack Kirby: Fantastic Four #11, featuring the debut of the chaos-causing Impossible Man, and Fantastic Four #173, showcasing one of the team’s most epic confrontations with the world-devouring Galactus. Also included are fresh takes on Mike Wieringo’s cover for Fantastic Four #60, marking the start of his and Mark Waid’s celebrated early 2000s run, and John Byrne’s cover for Fantastic Four #282, from his groundbreaking run that saw She-Hulk join the team.
The Disney What If? Fantastic Four Homage Variant Covers align with a major year for Marvel’s First Family. On July 25, they’ll make their much-anticipated debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Alongside their thrilling new adventures in Ryan North’s ongoing comic run and their key role in the upcoming One World Under Doom event, Marvel Comics is celebrating this milestone throughout the year with exciting variant cover programs, new collections, and much more!
