“ENTER: LILITH! After her defeat during the BLOOD HUNT, Lilith has been biding her time – setting the stage for a Hellish uprising with DEATHWATCH, THE HOOD and a WEREWOLF BY NIGHT at its fore! But WHICH Werewolf by Night? And will the pelts of the rest line Lilith’s path?!”
New Allegiance
Jack Russell is still on the run with Elsa Bloodstone after some wild werewolf attacks took place and it doesn’t seem like the chase will die down anytime soon. Jack, now missing a hand, and Elsa are on a search of their own to find a silver-haired werewolf. They’re hoping they can get some answers about these mutant werewolves that are attacking people all over the country and hopefully find out a way to control Jack’s inner wolf.
Meanwhile, the Darkholders have a new queen and it’s the one and only Lilith, the Mother of Demons. Thanks to Dorgana, The Hood’s leadership role was replaced by Lilith in a coup, and The Hood isn’t pleased in the slightest bit. Of course, no one likes being replaced but I guess this is a case of “game recognizing game” as The Hood asks to be her right-hand man after she says his life would be spared if he swears his allegiance to her. With a new relationship formed, a plan must be put into action. The Hood tells Lilith that he will seek out Jack Russell, dead or alive, and bring him back to her.

The Writing
Jason Loo does a fantastic job at keeping you on your toes throughout the comic, which adds so much excitement to an already exciting story. There were a few instances that really surprised me, one of them in particular involving Elsa Bloodstone.
Loo keeps the energy high in every portion of the book, making each page even more exciting than the last. From the Darkholders and Lilith to learning more about Jake Gomez, it was an exciting bit of continuity and new added storyline factors. I’m really excited to see where this goes, as, like I said, Loo does a great job at keeping you on your toes.
The Art
Something that stuck out to me the most were the scenes that took place at the Darkholder’s Castle, as I feel they perfectly displayed the tone of horror the creative team strived for. With The Hood pledging his allegiance to Lilith, the panels were wrapped in a creepy and unsettling tone that perfectly fit the energy of the comic. Besides that, the whole comic did a great job keeping a werewolf horror movie vibe throughout the entire read. The flashbacks of Jake Gomez losing control as a werewolf were something nightmares are made from, and I mean that in the best possible way. The artists truly brought a whole new depth to the comic!
Final Thoughts
I’m not usually one who’s interested in horror comics, but Jason Loo and the rest of the creative team really have done an exceptional job so far. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
