Graymalkin Manor used to be home to the X-Men. It now serves as a mutant prison. Corina Ellis captured Jubilee, Calico and Beast. This has prompted the Cyclops led X-Men and Rogue’s “Louisiana X-Men” teams to raid.
Both groups have not been on the same page since Krokoa. Can they pull it together long enough to free their teammates?

MacKay keeps the teams separated long enough to deliver on big action. The opening of the book delves into Ellis’ mutant prisoners attacking both groups.
Knowing the personal connection they bare, it reflects in the drama. The writing plays into a lot of “one upmanship” again as both groups vie to be the top one. Readers watch as the showdown boils down to the leaders.
Rogue and Cyclops have varying thoughts of how this mission should go. Rogue aligns more with the original dream. Cyclops sways to a more “Magneto” approach. This throws more conflict into an already built story. The result is decided by a familiar face. One name in mutantkind is extremely polarizing these days. The writing takes into count the legacy said character has left. In its result, the choice is made on how to move forward. It may not be a popular call but could be the one to save all.

Art duties are split between Stegman and Vincentini. The latter leads off the book with a strong two page action splash. Pacing moves swiftly through both teams. Everyone gets a fair share of page time before the conclusion. It wraps up with a full page image of the teams ready for their next moves.
As Stegman and Mayer take over, the story centers around the leaders. Each reaction radiates more anger. The past of Krokoa has never left either team. This mission re-opened old wounds. The art builds up the rage nicely until the closing moves. There’s another surprise on deck which debuts via two page image. It leads into a conclusion most fans were awaiting. Now the questions lead to: what happens next?

The pen-ultimate chapter of the “Raid On Greymalkin” delivers on various levels. MacKay’s writing re-opens emotional scars never healed. The art teams pack the pages with big action and even great emotion. With one issue left, the endgame might have arrived for both teams and their futures.
