Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! And this week I’m going to be reviewing the Gargoyles Winter Special from Greg Weisman, Nate Cosby & Dynamite Comics!
This issue is different from what you might usually expect from a Gargoyles comic, because it’s the Winter Special! The villains are take a backseat this week because Bronx, the loveable “dog” is taking a trip through the snowy streets of Manhattan! So with that said let’s jump into it!
Gargoyles Winter Special by Greg Weisman & Nate Cosby (Plot), Mate Cosby (Script), George Kambadais (Artist), Jeff Eckleberry (Sound Effects), JP Jordan (colorist), Jae Lee & June Chung (cover art) is an incredibly fun read that is a great change of pace from what you might usually read.
The story starts with the Manhattan clan awaking to the city in the midst of a pretty decent sized snowstorm. And while the majority of the clan go off to enjoy the snow, Bronx goes off into the city to get into all sorts of mischief. We then see the issue play out almost like a sequence in a Home Alone movie. There’s something wholesome and just so enjoyable with the whole issue.
FINAL POINT: The issue is a fun read for Gargoyles fans both new and old. It’s a nice read if you have to do some traveling or are just looking to pass the time. It’s an issue that’s definitely worth picking up and one that is very easy to get into, even if you haven’t been keeping up.
SCORE: 8.5 out of 10
