CHEETARA Published by Dynamite Entertainment

When Dynamite first announced they had the Thundercats license, every comic book reader of a certain age rejoiced. There’s something about these characters they love and want to see more adventures for as long as they can. Adding this miniseries to the overall story of Thundercats was the right call from Dynamite and this creative team was on point from the very first page.

The miniseries itself is about Cheetara becoming aware of her new psychic abilities and learning to trust them. That’s the surface story, but the story of her relationships with her fellow Thundercats is the heart of this miniseries.

VOTE IN THIS YEARS CHEERSIES!

Every issue has been very enjoyable and has shown that given the right creative team. Dynamite should consider more of these solo character miniseries in the future. If they wanted to give Soo Lee the reins there probably would be no objection from the fan base.

Lee’s work on this issue, as well as the whole miniseries, is strong. These characters are on level ground with one another and depend on each other in the best ways. While Cheetara’s visions were not understood at first, no one outright dismissed them.

There was something deeper to learn, and Lee gave readers that story with twists and turns. The Cheetara at the end of this issue is a stronger, more confident character than in the first issue. Character growth is important to storytelling, and Lee gives readers that in spades.

The art in this issue is superb, as it has been the entire miniseries. Domenico Carbone is joined by Giona Zefiro per the credits, and it’s not clear where that assistance comes into play, but that’s the evidence of strong teamwork. The two artists blend together to provide a cohesive issue. Chiara Di Francia continues to provide amazing colors to the page and bring this world to life. Jeff Eckleberry remains the veteran letterer and provides dialogue and narration that works with the linework and not against it.

FINAL THOUGHTS
This concluding issue serves more as the epilogue to the story, but that doesn’t mean this issue is stale. There is a lot packed into this issue and each person working on this issue has moments to provide some of their best work on the miniseries. This series is a must read book, so don’t miss out.

Chris has been a comic book fan since picking up ELFQUEST #2 off the spinner rack and the corner store near his grandparents' home in Durham, NC. Since then, Chris has bought, read, and sold more comics than he cares to count. There isn't a comic book series that Chris won't try at least one issue of if you're willing to stay and listen to what he thinks about it.
