The Moon is Following Us #2:
Sam and Duncan have lost their daughter, Penny, to a mysterious, unknown form of sleep paralysis and have become desperate. Looking for answers anywhere, the couple meets Tash, who takes them deep inside of Penny’s mind, where the couple finds out just how far they will need to go in order to save their daughter.

The Artwork:
The art continues its magnificent yet terrifyingly form of taking us deep down a trip that few of us have probably had in our lives. The looks of pure desperation glued to both parents’ faces couldn’t be more different but similar. They are doing a tremendous job of capturing the look of pure desperation each one is feeling.
Introducing the dream world that Penny is in was a trippy and colorfully fun way to do so, as it looks like the travel between dimensions. The various characters that are callbacks to stuffed animals capture a child’s imagination to a tee.
The Writing:
Daniel Warren Johnson started issue 1 with an explosive action sequence and then walked us back to this issue by taking us to the start. I love how there is a scientific way to explain what is happening with Penny and that it is sleep paralysis, which is a terrifying thing to experience. The story skips out on the action but, we do not even notice as we are in all our feelings about this issue. Especially as a parent, this one pulls the heartstrings incredibly hard.
Overall:
I am incredibly invested in this story. The Moon is Following Us both captures a child’s imagination in scary ways and also plays into every parent’s fears of something happening to their child. It’s colorful and creative in every way possible and everyone should be pulling this each and every month immediately!
