Vengeance

With Vengeance now awakened and promising to return to his full strength, it seems the theme of vengeance is certainly making its rounds. Johnny Blaze is on his own journey for vengeance when he hears the cries of a sea witch who has been unjustly imprisoned. His journey takes him to the bottom of the Indian Ocean, with him prepared to take on the 14th Colony of Atlantis. Johnny forces an Atlantean to take him to the 14th Colony as part of his plan to take on the entirety of the colony.

The Atlanteans didn’t take kindly to him to Johnny’s threats on one of their own, and all hell breaks loose. Johnny has quite a few tricks up his sleeve for the Atlanteans for him to reach his goal to set the sea witch free. Once he finally makes his way to her, it turns out the sea witch is no stranger to the Spirits of Vengeance. So much so, that she knows more about the Spirits of Vengeance than Johnny does.

The Writing

Sabir Pirzada sets up this run fantastically with having you hooked into the story immediately, and he does the same with Spirits of Vengeance #2. It’s nonstop action with heartfelt moments in the form of flashbacks to Johnny’s life. After reading the second installment, I am very excited to see where this run goes.

The Art

With the exciting story, it’s only right to have great artwork that goes with it. The artists of Spirits of Vengeance #2 go out of their way to make it a beautiful comic to read. With the blue tones of the ocean contrasting the orange and yellows of the flames from Ghost Rider, every panel is a feast for the eyes. One of my favorite parts was at the end when we see the transition from Ghost Rider to Johnny Blaze that showed how devastated he was with what the sea witch told him. The facial expressions were perfectly handled.
