The Venom War continues

In Venom War: Deadpool #1, Deadpool brought Silence and Princess to Monster Metropolis, an asylum to the monsters of the world including Frankenstein’s Monster, Morbius, and Man-Thing. While he went there looking for a place to take a breather from the Venom War happening above ground, the zombiotes followed him to the secret monster community. Now with the zombiotes attacking the monsters and their home, they must join the Venom War.

Of course, this being Deadpool, some of his plans don’t quite work out the way he hopes. This becomes very clear when someone who’s fighting on Deadpool’s side decides to take things way too far and attacks both sides. Now, Deadpool, Silence, Princess and the monsters must fight the zombiotes and this character they viewed as an ally.

The Writing

Venom War: Deadpool has easily been the most entertaining miniseries to come out of the Venom War and the second installment solidifies that. Seeing Deadpool having to talk the monsters into leaving Monster Metropolis to fight for the greater good was very interesting to see. Add that to actually seeing the monsters join the Venom War and save the lives of human civilians and it really packed a punch to the already exciting story. Cullen Bunn does a great job keeping each page exciting while adding twists and turns into the story that keeps you locked into the story.

The Art

With Rob Di Salvo as the artist, Dono Sánchez-Almara handling the colors, and Joe Sabino on letters, Venom War: Deadpool #2 was guaranteed to be an aesthetically fun read. At one point Deadpool says “we’re promoting a real first issue of a new comic universe energy kind of energy here” and that is exactly what it felt like. With the team up of Deadpool, Silence, Princess, and the monsters, the artists did a spectacular job at making each character shine in their own light.
