“Oz Cobb” made a bold move. In the debut episode of The Penguin did some dirty deeds. The result appears to be the start of an all-out mob war. This is Janelle and let’s talk episode 2 on MAX!

In this second episode, it opens up with Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti) who is in Arkham Asylum. She sees her brother, Alberto (Michael Zegen) and her brother’s pinky is missing. Meaning, that she is dreaming, and Alberto promises Sofia that he will get her out of Arkham Asylum. She awakes, and she screams and hysterical in her therapist’s office.  Dr. Julian Rush (Theo Rossi) holds Sofia, and tells her that she is safe. She wants to leave immediately, she says she is not safe. She is now “home.”

Oz (Colin Farrell) is making moves, meeting again with Salvatore Maroni (Clancy Brown). Salvatore got word from his family, that now they are accused of killing Alberto. Oz encourages Salvatore to help with the shipment, and everything will be okay. This is interesting because Oz seems to playing both the Maronis and the Falcones. Oz is easily able to manipulate both families to do what he wants.

In between all of this, Oz goes to visit his mother Francis (Deirdre O’Connell). Her landlord informs Oz that he found her in the street, in her evening wear and asking about going to Mass. It wasn’t even Sunday that particular day. Oz pays him, and asks for him to look out for her. It is obvious that Francis’s dementia is getting worse and worse each day. Oz ends up dancing with Francis. Victor reminds him that they still have to go to the funeral.

Oz has a conversation with Sofia, and tells her again that he is backing her up. Oz tells the story of his mom losing Oz’s brother, and that she bounced back from that. Sofia asked how did she do that. Oz said he would think that it was him, but, he believes it was something else that motivated her.

Sofia ends up going to find Detective Marcus Wise (Craig Walker) who previously worked with the Falcone’s. She asks him to find information about who killed her brother and who knew about the shipment moving. The detective ends up finding a man who knows information on both. Oz finds out that they have this man, and doesn’t want him to rat him out. Oz tells the man to blame it on Johnny Viti.  When Victor (Rhenzy Feliz) couldn’t plant the diamonds in Johnny’s car, the plans changed. All of the sudden, Oz kills the man.

When the Falcone’s went to question him, they locked the place down. They went and searched everyone, and with Oz’s quick thinking, he plants the knife on Sofia’s bodyguard, Castillo (Berto Colon). Sofia’s asks for his gun, and then her Uncle ends up killing him. Sofia gets mad at her Uncle, and is upset that he never lets her do anything. Sofia’s uncle said she needs a vacation. Italy would be nice, and Sofia smirks and says maybe she does need a vacation from it all.

This episode of The Penguin was a lot of setup, but it was needed for future episodes. It gives a clear view of what Oz wants to do. He is awesome with his quick thinking skills to get him out of dangerous situations. Oz definitely has the upper hand when it comes to running operations. I’m excited to see what is next for him.

I give this episode a 10/10.
