Family no longer means those bound by blood. Frey is on a warpath when she only wants peace from the life her father and brothers have created for them all. Issue #3 of Kill All Immortals questions who Frey can trust. Is she aligned with the right people, or does her family honestly only want what’s best for her? After all, why should a God spend its time with mere mortals…

Let’s Start With the Story:
The first two issues were straight forward, Frey’s family has come after her for where her allegiences lie. However, Zack slowly begins to turn the story upside down as he introduces the slight hint of mistrust. I her friend reporting on her or are there darker motives behind his every inquiry? The slight shift away from pure action and into a slight bit of thriller allows this story to sink its claws further into the reader as we are hanging on every word and every panel.
Frey is a very dynamic character. She is not out for blood and only blood; she wants answers and to live a mundane life. The film does a fantastic job of asking the question of what would happen if we were immortal. Her relationship with her brother Steinn is another complicated one as they have always been closer in morals, and to see them do battle cement further how far she is willing to go, making this story even more compelling. Hassan again works on lock step with Zack as he crafts his words in emotional tones floating off of every panel.
Now For the Art:
Fico and Thiago are just operating on another level with this issue. Their art is so vivid and eye-catching that it ties the comic together excellently. Each issue has taken us to a new environment, so it is exciting to see how they portray and show us these new places that all connect to ancient Viking culture. Thiago has the entire rainbow at his disposal, as this is not a one-trick pony for colors flying off the pages. The way that Fico is able to craft intense action sequences in this story deserves high praise because they are complex and detailed battles not for the faint of heart.
Overall Thoughts:
Kill All Immortals #3 continues to deliver intense action; however, it takes a step back slightly to explore the complexity of family dynamics and trust. Freya is a badass Viking who simply wants to be left alone, and she has the heart set to take it as far as she needs to achieve it.
10/10 Overall.
