MoonKnight Annual #1:
If you’re keeping track of the Infinity Watch, Colleen Wing just bonded with the Mind Stone after the stone’s previous bearer met his untimely demise.
Meanwhile, Colleen is going to have to turn to some unlikely allies if she wants to stay alive as well.
Nightmare is looking to take the stone, but with MoonKnight teaming up with Colleen, the heroes stand a chance of keeping the stone out of this hellish demon’s hands.
The Art:
This issue is more of a mental game than an all-out battle like we’ve seen in earlier issues of the Watch.
Darting from dream to dream, the art of Wing and MoonKnight reflect the various worlds they jump in and out of in this issue.
Add in a broken pysche like that of Marc Spector and you are in for a wild visually stunning ride.
Renna captures the chaos well and helps guide the reader through this mind-warping journey.
The Writing:
This is where the fun starts.
i can’t imagine getting to write for Spector as you really have freedom to play with so many emotions, personalities and even action.
Watters executes a complicated character to perfection. There’s a subtle nature to the different personalities that coalesce to become MoonKnight.
Wing is another storied character in the Marvel world so getting to add her and her new powers into the mix is a blast for fans of this series.
And Wing’s story ends with a twist no one saw coming!
Overall: 8/10
Solid entry into the Infinity Watch though I’d love to know more about where we are heading.
All the stories have been sharp thus far, but the bigger picture isn’t necessary revealing itself just yet.
Maybe that’s on purpose and maybe we are in for a surprise next in Spider-Boy Annual #1??
