The Woman Without Fear is back for a second installment and I couldn’t be more delighted. There’s something electric about her being Hell’s Kitchen’s new Daredevil. Maybe it’s how calm, calculated, and precise she is. Or maybe it’s how confident she is in herself. Whatever it is, it works in such a beautiful way.

The first issue was fantastic, and Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #2 is an excellent continuation. Elektra, who goes by Daredevil now, needs information from Crossbones that can help Alice, the young girl who’s in Elektra’s care. But the problem is, Punisher wants her to hand over Crossbones or he’s attacking her as well. Surely, this can’t be the actual Punisher, as he’s missing shots he would usually make, so who is he?

Something I love about Elektra’s comics is that her fight scenes are always phenomenal, and this comic holds that true. Whilst trying to figure out who this pseudo-Punisher is, she still has to fight him off and continue her search for Alice’s whereabouts.

The Art

The artwork is stunning and grows more impressive with every page. Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #2 is a dynamic and energetic issue, with its vibrant motion practically leaping off the page. You can really see the precision of Elektra’s fighting still in each panel. The foreground is colored exceptionally well, but it’s the sky that truly takes your breath away. During dusk or dawn, the skies blend shades of blue, purple, and yellow in a remarkably beautiful way. Added with the city buildings of Madripoor adds even more beauty to each panel.

The Writing

Erica Schultz has written the Woman Without Fear quite a few times, and I feel she nails each time. Everything from the inner dialogue of Elektra to the banter between her and Punisher was exciting to read. Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #2 is excitement all the way through. I just wish I had more of it to read, but I suppose that tells you how fun this comic is. This run has been exciting and fresh so far and I can’t wait to read the third installment.

I give this a 9 out of 10
