Amazing Spider-Man #53 – Spidey and Goblin Begin their Last Dance

After an intense past few months in Spider-Man land, looks like issue #53 might be bringing this latest Green Goblin arc to a close … maybe.

Last we saw, Norman had turned Peter into the Spider-Goblin and he easily decimated the Sinister Six.

But Kraven, the all-knowing, was able to give the spear to Peter after he snapped out of the Goblin’s mental hold.

But that hold is extremely strong, something we’ll get into in just a bit.

Ms Marvel Comes into Her Own

A unique arc within this whole run is Ms. Marvel really stepping up, even in a leadership role.

She’s united with the Living Brain, Rek-Rap and others to fight the Goblin.

But Norman is way too much for this rag-tag group of heroes.

Even the Living Brain collapses into parts for some odd reason, which I’m sure we’ll find out more next issue.

But right when it seems like all hope is lost, it’s Spider-Man to the rescue. And it’s a battle he must fight alone.

One on One – for One Last Time?

One of the most iconic hero and villain combinations over the last six decades, the Goblin and Spider-Man look to be heading into a final collision course of sorts.

Kraven even says it himself as he locks them both in deep below Oscorp, “Only one will return.”

But who will it be and will the Goblin once again take hold of Spidey? Or will Peter finally triumph?

That remains to be seen!

Final Thoughts – 7.5/10

I’m excited to see what happens next and love the arc development.

This issue though felt a bit like a filler to get us to the main event. And that main event is sure to be a doozy!
