Let’s Recap
Last week, we were introduced to the Infinity Watch and Thanos’ new mission to recollect the stones.
BUT to his surprise, the stones had evolved and weren’t just being wielded by those worthy, they had united with those heroes, so much so that Thanos would have to kill them to take back the stones. Which of course he’s more than happy to do.
Meanwhile, Thanos was yet again being dismissed by his love Death, yet he turned her into a new Infinity Stone. STILL, she wants no part of the Mad Titan. What’s a homicidal maniac have to do to be loved huh?
Who she does want to be united with is Phil Coulson?!?! Yep, you read that right!
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
Enter this week and Spider-Man, our neighborhood hero always getting himself into major trouble.
In fact, he has no idea what’s coming.
Before the end of last week’s issue, future Overtime (keeper of the Time Stone) traveled back in time and told the other stone keepers to find him currently and find him fast. And now we know why, he’s a criminal!!!
Spidey is having a rough day, but as the two go at it, you find out more about Hector’s backstory and more about the man himself.
In fact, he tries to help Spidey by going back in time and doing his best to save someone that died a day prior. For this novice Overtime, he really makes helping Spidey a priority in the best way.
Overtime’s Mysterious Backstory
After Hector is able to help Spidey, we learn a little bit about why he was robbing that armored car for money in the first place.
There’s a mistake that he believes he HAS to fix using the Time Stone. And of course he needs to money to help him do that.
Before we can learn what that mistake is, Star and Quantum (two other stone keepers) show up just like his future self told them to.
The stone bearers are more powerful when they are together, so to correct his past mistake, Overtime says he’ll join the group.
Nick Fury Joins the Action
In the epilogue, Fury is dreaming about Coulson, but this time in his dreams, Phil survived! Must mean something, right?
Yep, we flip back to Phil, newly united and revived by the Death Stone.
Nighthawk is there trying to guide Coulson to use the stones to bring the universe back to what it was.
Final Thoughts – 8/10
A solid follow up to last week’s opening book for the Infinity Watch.
I’m starting to see the pieces come together and am very interested to see how this continues to play out.
One big thing was missing this week though – THANOS!!
