Episode three starts off with one word: strategy. Team Black and Team Green are eager to make plans for the war. As everyone sits at the table, King Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) and Alicent (Olivia Cooke) are going over strategies.

At Dragonstone, they are burying the twins who were killed from last weeks episode. Rhaenerya (Emma D’Arcy), Jacareys (Harry Collett) and Rhaenys (Eve Best) are at the gravesite of the twins being buried. Rhaenys talks to Rhaneyra about talking to her about some sort of peace. Later on, Mysaria is back at Dragonstone, as she did try warn her about Arryk’s (Luke Tittensor) attack on Rhaneyra. Mysaria asked Rhaneyra for a favor in return, which is to be on her court. Rhaneyra hesitated for a second, but accepts her into the court.

Rhaneyra has to make the tough decision to send her children and some of the dragon eggs away in order to protect them. She entrusts Lady Rhaena (Phoebe Campbell) to look after them. Rhaneyra sees them off by giving them kisses atop of each of their heads. Rhaneyra goes back to the table, to hear from the council. The council is begging for some type of movement,  and she is considering what their advice.

Daemon (Matt Smith) has flown Caraxes to a place called Harrenhal. He is greeted by Ser Simon Strong (Simon Russell Beale), who pledges his loyalty to Queen Rhaneyra. Daemon brings up his family member Laerys and Ser Simon said that he has been disowned by the family. Daemon is sent to a bedroom to rest, (and you can tell it’s leaking from the roof). All of the sudden, he is having visions of a young Rhaneyra (Milly Alcock) and she is sewing up Jaehaerys’ corpse, particularly his neck. In another vision a woman, Alys Rivers (Gayle Rankin) says, “You’ll die in this place”.

Ser Criston Cole is riding out with Alicent’s brother Ser Gwayne (Freddie Fox) and suddenly Cole sees a dragon that is in the sky. Baela (Bethany Antonia) is on her dragon going after them. They flee to the trees and Baela loses track of them, she reports back to Queen Rhaneyra where they are heading. Cole and his crew now have to go a different path.

Later, Aegon is talking to Larys (Matthew Neehdam) and appoints him as Masters of Whispers. Aegon said his father didn’t have a Masters of Whispers, but Aegon wants one. Larys will be in charge of getting information for Aegon, as requested and needed.

Now to the brothel, there is a guy introduced as Ulf (Tom Bennett). He says that he is related to Daemon and Queen Rhaneyra. Aegon arrives, and ends up finding his brother Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) in the brothel. Aegon mocks his brother and immediately Aemond flees.

Towards the end of the episode Rhaneyra poses as a nun and goes to where Alicent is alone. It is right where they have met many times in the first season. Rhaneyra pleads to Alicent about war and the conversation ends up to where Rhaneyra was asking King Viserys’ last words. Alicent said that he mentioned Aegon, “the prince that was promised to protect the realm”.  Rhaneyra said that is a story based on Aegon the Conqueror. This might mean that Aegon is not the rightful heir to the thrown. The question is: was Alicent wrong?

This episode was jammed pack with information, and setup. Set up for the future, and what might come in the future. I think episode four might be when the war begins.

This episode is a 10/10.
