Black Panther: Blood Hunt by Marvel Comics

Marvel’s Blood Hunt is in full chaos across multiple comic books. The Darkforce Dimension is taking over the world, and turning many into vampires or prey. T-Challa may be the Black Panther, but even he is not immune, as he was cursed by Blade. A curse that may prove helpful. However, T’Challa has a hard time seeing it like that, and last we saw him he ventured into the wilderness away from those he could harm as his bloodlust increases, and he refuses to feed.

The Story for Issue 2

Issue 2 kicks off with a glimpse of the past and an interaction between gods. Khonshu and Bast discuss how to deal with a demon, before we cut back to the vampire filled present. A present where we learn the demon they fight today has been fought before. A fight the gods did not finish is now left in the hands of the Black Panther. As T’Challa gets a literal taste of blood, he suddenly feels things he’s never felt before. Only to then suddenly be up against a known enemy who isn’t thirsting for blood, and may be able to help?

The Art

Throughout this comic we see many different scenes. Past, present, jungle, under water, Shuri’s lab, etc. Every single scene is so incredibly detailed, fluid, and beautiful. Even the font flows seamlessly from panel to panel guiding you through the story. In addition to the incredible details and beauty, the colors compliment each scene perfectly. The colors create a dark feeling at times (as most vampire stories should), yet the colors still make the characters pop and showcase the story.

Black Panther: Blood Hunt #2 Rating: 9/10

If you haven’t jumped on the Blood Hunt Comic Book train yet, this is the perfect comic to do just that. There is a lot going on (there’s a list of comics at the end of this one), and you can enjoy a single story or all of them.

T’Challa being cursed by Blade, and talking with gods definitely gives his Blood Hunt story a bit of an edge. If you’re a Black Panther fan, a Blade fan, a fan of the god mythology stories, a vampire fan, or simply a Marvel fan (which if you’re reading this, you probably are), add this one to your pull list. It’s the perfect start to dipping your toes in that blood filled pool.
