The Story:
Captain America and his small team of Avengers continue their fight against Baron Blood and his vampire Nazis! The team must work together to save the civilians that were on the Fascist vampire’s menu!
The Writing:
This tie-in continues to delight, thanks to fantastic writing by Jed MacKay. Each character gets a chance to shine, with Cap and Hawkeye being the big draws here. The way MacKay can make me feel like the heroes are in real danger, even though I know they will all be just fine by the final page, is a real talent. The dialogue and back and forth between the team and Cap and Baron Blood were all spot on. I am still so surprised that I am enjoying a tie-in to an event I’m not reading to this extent.
The Art:
This art team is doing the Lord’s work! Beautiful panel after beautiful panel with incredible movement and action. The colors, line work, and layout all work together to create an excellent experience. I will never get over seeing Quicksilver smirking over his shoulder while holding off a group of vampires with a wooden stake in his hand. Great work by this art team.
The Verdict: 9/10
What a ride these Blood Hunt tie-ins have been! I came into these issues, not excited in the least, now I’m dreading the return to the normal team of Avengers. This is a credit to great writing and incredible art work. If you have been holding out on these because they are tie-ins, you are truly missing out!
