All good things come to an end

We’ve come to the ending of the four issue long run of Spider-Punk: Arms Race. I’ll be the first to say I would love so much more than four books. This series is so much fun with all of the characters of the Spider-Band and the additional characters that join in the excitement. Each page is nonstop action while being a feast for the eyes full of color and vivid artwork.

Let’s get into the comic book

In the last issue, we saw the Spider-Band fighting against Doctor Otto Octavius after learning it was him behind all of the chaos. Then Riri Williams brings her ace in the hole, the Spider-Van Robot. It was an absolute treat to see the battle between the Spider-Band Robot and Doc Ock’s Spider-Slayer Sentinel. The fight between the two was exciting and kept your eyes clinging to the comic panels, hanging on to every punch that was thrown.

Seeing the Spider-Band work together while Riri is the MVP was such a satisfying ending to this uninterrupted thrill ride of a comic run. Even when the battle was over, the excitement continued with our favorite Wakandans showing up. I really hope to see these characters continue to work together in the future!

The Writing

I can’t say enough about the writing. Usually, you don’t see so much chemistry between so many characters at once, but Cody Ziglar accomplished just that. Seeing them all work harmoniously really cemented them as the Spider-Band for me. Also seeing Riri Williams get to showcase her genius level set of skills was very appreciated as someone who’s a huge fan. Cody Ziglar did an incredible job with Spider-Punk: Arms Race!

The Art

I don’t have enough words to describe how beautifully crafted Spider-Punk: Arms Race #4 was. Justin Mason made this comic book look a masterpiece in every single panel with the colors done by Morry Hollowell. The artwork made me feel I was watching an cinematic movie with every page even more gorgeous than the one before. Each element of the artwork captures you, immersing you in every scene as if it were the pinnacle of the narrative. Hats off to the artists for sculpting a masterpiece that delights the senses. The intricacies within each image, set against the stunning palette, create a visual symphony that resonates almost audibly.

Final Thoughts

While the comic run was only four issues, it was a full course meal of everything you could ask for in a comic book run. Spider-Punk: Arms Race #4 was the perfect way to end the Arms Race run. From the artwork to the dialogue between the characters, I would say this is as close to a perfect comic book run as you could get.

I give this a 10 out of 10
