Creature From the Black Lagoon Lives! #2:

Marsden barely escaped death’s grasp and is back out on the hunt for the deadly Collier. Her search has taken them to the mysterious lagoon. On the run from a group of Narcos led by Collier, Marsden may not be over the effects of nearly drowning. Meanwhile, the groups may not be alone in this remote part of the jungle.

The Art:

There a lot of beautiful sequences in this particular issue. Matt and Dave craft up some impressive work showcasing the creature’s ferocity as it rips apart one of the Narcos members. The splash of blood streaking across the page as it covers the creature’s green stands out tremendously and is one of my favorite scenes. When it comes to drawing and coloring our human characters, the duo dives into the details within the facial features. They showcase the varying scars and down to the little drips of sweat. This is such an impressively drawn and colored comic.

The Writing:

Dan and Ram pull the thread out a little bit more in this slow-burning mystery as they give us just a little bit more to the tale. We get some backstory on the notorious Collier as Marsden is after him to almost a fault. DC’s lettering adds to the aura being built in this story as the lettering allows us to catch onto the tones and dialogue being spoken.

Overall:

Issue #2 is another strong entry building upon the lore of The Creature From the Black Lagoon. The pacing is just right the team is not shying away from showcasing the creature in any manner, even giving him some memorable moments as he rips apart those that cross him.
