When Thor’s brother, Tyr the God of War, is missing in action, Thor must call on his Godly siblings to help find where their missing brother is. Diving into this mighty family reunion was an absolute delight if you’re into the mythology side of Marvel Comics like I am.

The Children of Odin

After a disappointing call from Captain America, Thor tells Sam Wilson that he has pressing business to take care of, family business that is. He is calling a meeting of his siblings, the children of Odin, to assist him in finding his lost brother, Tyr. We get a great introduction to his siblings and get to see their dynamic with each other. Angela, Balder, Honir, Vidar, Hermod, Laussa, and of course Loki attend a meeting that Thor calls to discuss their missing brother when a couple unexpected siblings make their grand entrance.

All of Odin’s children make their way to find Tyr when it’s discovered one of the siblings may be to blame for the disappearance of their brother. Using the talents and hunting skills of the siblings, they’re on the right track to finding Tyr, but he might not be in the condition he left in.

I found it incredibly delightful to witness Thor and his siblings united. Typically, attention centers on Thor and Loki, making this reunion an exciting surprise. Here’s to hoping for more opportunities to witness their dynamic in the future.

The Art

The art was a perfect fit for the tone of The Immortal Thor #11. The characters were all drawn so differently from each other showing their divergent personalities while still making them all look worthy to be a God. The scenes were beautifully drawn and colored, that only added to the overall story. The cover art and variant cover art is fantastic as well. The artists on this comic book knocked it our of the park.

The Writing

I loved every bit of the writing for The Immortal Thor #11. The dialogue from the characters was serious but you could still see a sibling-like humor between them. Personally, I think it would be very difficult to make a storyline involving so many strong characters and each of them still be able to shine, but Al Ewing nailed it. I can’t wait to see what Ewing does with The Immortal Thor #12.
